We explored how biases shape every step of our decision-making \u2014 mostly without us noticing.<br><br>Biases are\u00a0mental shortcuts\u00a0that help our brain make fast decisions under uncertainty. They\u2019re efficient from an evolutionary perspective \u2014 but in today\u2019s complex world, they can lead to\u00a0short-sighted choices, particularly in hiring, strategy, and innovation.<br><br>In the workplace, \u201cbias\u201d often carries a negative connotation \u2014 associated with prejudice or unfair judgment.<br><br>So people often instinctively respond:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m not biased.\u201d<br><br>But the truth is:\u00a0everyone is.\u00a0It\u2019s simply how the brain works. The key isn\u2019t to deny bias, but to\u00a0pause and question it. The gap between your first instinct and your deliberate reasoning \u2014 that\u2019s where bias hides.<br><br>Next time you face a decision \u2014 choosing between two people, two ideas, or two options at work \u2014 ask yourself:<br><br>\ud83d\udc49 What would it take for me to be wrong?<br>\ud83d\udc49 What assumptions am I treating as facts right now?<br>\ud83d\udc49 Whose opinion or data have I not considered because it might challenge me?<br><br>Recognizing bias isn\u2019t about blame \u2014 it\u2019s about awareness, curiosity, and better decisions.
